Set-Up & Prep Medicat Bootable Window PE

Set-Up & Prep Medicat Bootable Window PE

1. Prepare Your Medicat USB or SSD

Download & Install Ventoy:

  1. Visit the official Ventoy website and download the latest release.
  2. Launch Ventoy2Disk and install it to your USB drive or external SSD.
  3. Enable Secure Boot support during installation (check the box in the installer).

Add Medicat ISO Data:

  1. Download the latest Medicat ISO from the official source.
  2. Copy the ISO file directly to the USB/SSD (no extraction necessary).

2. Enable Secure Boot Support (UEFI Key Install):

If Secure Boot is enabled on your system, follow these steps:

🔐 MOK Manager Prompt (First Boot)

  1. On first boot, a blue screen labeled “Perform MOK Management” may appear.
  2. Select “Enroll key from disk.”
  3. Navigate to the EFI partition on the USB and choose:
    Enroll_this_key_in_MOKmanager.cer
  4. Confirm, then reboot the machine.
✅ This registers Ventoy’s Secure Boot key with the system's UEFI firmware.

3. Boot Into Medicat Portable Windows (WinPE):

🚀 Booting Into the PE Environment

  1. Plug in your Medicat USB or SSD.
  2. Start the Computer
  3. Enter BIOS/UEFI (F2, DEL, ESC, or F12 during startup).
  4. Set USB/SSD as the primary boot device or use the boot menu (F12).
  5. Select the ISO in Ventoy Menu
  6. The Ventoy boot menu will appear.
  7. Choose the Medicat.2023.x.iso (or your version).

💻 Choose Your Windows PE Version

From the Medicat boot menu, choose:

    • Mini Windows 10
    • Mini Windows 11
    • Medicat Windows 10 PE or 11 PE

Wait 1–3 minutes for the environment to fully load.

4. Install/Update Drivers via Snappy Driver Installer (SDI):

  • On the desktop or in the PortableApps menu, look for:

    • Snappy Driver Installer

    • Or browse to Medicat\Programs\Snappy Driver Installer

There are typically two versions:

  • SDI Lite: Downloads only the drivers you need (requires internet)

  • SDI Full: Contains a full driver pack (larger file size, no internet needed)

3. Launch SDI

  • Right-click and run Snappy Driver Installer.exe as Administrator (recommended).

  • If prompted to update the tool itself, allow it.

4. Scan for Missing/Outdated Drivers

  • SDI will scan the system for any missing, outdated, or corrupt drivers.

  • Once the scan completes, a list of recommended drivers will appear.

5. Select Drivers to Install

  • You can:

    • Click Select All” for automatic updates.

    • Or manually choose individual drivers.

⚠️ Tip: Avoid unnecessary driver updates unless you’re sure they're needed — especially on critical systems.

6. Download (Lite) or Install (Full)

  • SDI Lite: Downloads drivers from the internet (requires network access).

  • SDI Full: Installs directly from the included database.

7. Install Drivers

  • Click Install (Expert Mode)” or just Install”.

  • Wait for the process to complete — this may take a few minutes depending on how many drivers are being installed.

8. Reboot (Optional)

  • After installing drivers, you may be prompted to reboot. In a PE environment, rebooting will reset the session — so only do this if you’re preparing the OS for deployment.

5. Update PortableApps in Mini Windows:

🌐 Confirm Network Access

  1. Boot into Mini Windows 10/11 from the Medicat ISO.
  2. Open a browser to confirm internet connectivity.
  3. If no internet, connect via Ethernet or use Snappy Driver Installer to load Wi-Fi drivers.

🔄 Check & Install Updates

  1. In the PortableApps menu, go to Apps → Check for Updates…
  2. Select the apps you wish to update, or click Select All.
  3. Click Next and allow downloads/installations to complete.
  4. This ensures your tools stay up-to-date with the latest versions.
